Golf and Cognac in the Charente
Where you will play
- Golf du Cognac, in Saint-Brice (10 km from Cognac and 7 km from Jarnac): an 18-hole, par-72 course designed by Jean Garaïalde, set amidst vineyards, woods, and the Charente Valley. It features wide fairways, water hazards, and well-defended greens—a course technical enough to engage an experienced player, yet open enough to remain enjoyable. The clubhouse is housed in a converted farmhouse overlooking the 18th hole.
- Golf Club de l’Hirondelle, in Angoulême: an 18-hole, par-70 course designed by G. A. Calmels, overlooking the city and its ramparts. Shorter than Cognac but significantly more hilly and wooded, it places a much higher premium on shot placement. The back nine bears no resemblance to the front nine—and that is precisely the point.
A one-hour session with the club professional precedes your first round, covering warm-ups, putting, the short game, and final swing adjustments. Tee times are requested and secured in advance, and golf carts are reserved for both courses.
What you will discover
- One of the oldest cognac trading houses, specializing in Grande Champagne cognacs since the 18th century, during a private tasting featuring gourmet food and cognac pairings. A two-hour experience where time and terroir matter just as much as what is in the glass.
- A family estate in the vineyard : farmed by the same family for three generations and currently managed by two ladies. They personally host the visit, showing you the vines, the Charentais copper still, and the aging cellars, followed by a tasting of the estate’s cognacs and Pineau des Charentes, all produced exclusively from their own vineyards. The estate holds “High Environmental Value” (HVE) certification.
- Segonzac, the capital of Grande Champagne: a town with a mixed Protestant and Catholic heritage and the first French town to be awarded the *Cittaslow* label. “Cognac Tasting Tour” played a role in the successful bid for this designation.
A stay that works for two
The program features nine highlights shared by both packages. Only two involve eau-de-vie tastings—each with its own unique approach, focusing on the olfactory profile of aged cognacs and gourmet pairings, without actually drinking from the glass.
The remaining seven experiences, the two rounds of golf, the session with a professional, the visit to Segonzac, and the dining experiences, are enjoyed without a drop of alcohol. No one spends three days waiting for their partner, whether at the clubhouse or in the aging cellar.
Two collections, one itinerary
Our trips are distinguished by their level of service rather than their duration. This trip is available in two collections, sharing the same duration and experience concept.
Golf & Cognac – Signature collection
Two nights at Hôtel Ligaro, a charming ten-room property in the heart of Jarnac, staying in a “Les Aînées” category room, the hotel’s most spacious. The argument for this collection is not the star rating, it is the distance: tastings at the cognac house and dinners are all within walking distance of the hotel.
Two dinners at restaurants featuring cuisine from the Charente and Atlantic regions are included.
Self-drive package: you drive, we handle the rest. Private transfers available as an option.
From €1,290 per person (based on two people sharing a double room), April through October. Private transfers at an additional cost.
Golf & Cognac – Prestige collection
Two nights at the five-star Hôtel Chais Monnet & Spa in Cognac, a former cognac trading site transformed into a luxury hotel with a spa and garden. A chauffeur accompanies you for all three days: enjoy tastings without worrying about driving, and never have to handle your own luggage.
Two dinners at Michelin-starred restaurants are included. Reserved driving range time before your first round, access to the hotel spa between your two days of golf, and lunch in Angoulême on the final day.
Package starts at €6,590 for two people (€3,295 per person), including local transport, chauffeur, and meals.
Where you’ll stay
You stay at the same hotel for both nights, regardless of the tier. Unpack just once, no moving between locations, and spend your evenings in town rather than in a golf hotel parking lot.
For the Signature collection: Hôtel Ligaro in Jarnac, ten rooms and a garden, offering the atmosphere of a private home. In the Prestige range: the five-star Hôtel Chais Monnet & Spa in Cognac. These establishments, or others of an equivalent category, are subject to availability for your dates.

Good to know before booking
- Tee times: requests must be made at least ten days prior to arrival. Golf du Cognac hosts numerous competitions, including on weekdays. Tee times are confirmed subject to club approval, and the order of the two days of play may be swapped to accommodate this.
- Golf course access: both clubs require proof of golfing status. At the time of booking, we will inform you of the accepted forms of proof, such as a national license, home club membership card, or handicap certificate. Payment for this is settled prior to your departure, not at the club reception.
- Provider availability: the trip is organized based on provider schedules. If a specific provider is unavailable on your chosen dates, an experience of equivalent quality, also with a reserved time slot, will be offered as a substitute.
- Season: the package is available from April to October. July and August are available upon request (quote).
- Rates: the prices shown are indicative 2026 rates; they are non-contractual and subject to change. Only a personalized quote is binding on the agency.
